Batavia – A Photographer’s Dream

I worked in Batavia, NY for a year, and during that time I spent many of my lunch hours exploring the little city that sits equidistant from Buffalo and Rochester. Turns out there are a LOT of opportunities for cool photos – I’d hate to calculate how much I spent in film and processing during that year! The big draws for me are actually negatives for the local economy: Defunct businesses ranging from small retail to massive manufacturing/warehousing facilities. As a photographer who loves the art of urban decay, it became an obsession.

As far as using those crumbling structures as a setting for a photoshoot, they would lend themselves best to modeling portfolios… It’s doubtful that a Batavia photographer would find them useful for family and senior portraits. Fortunately, if you are looking to do family and senior pics there, several parks are available that can accommodate that type of shoot!

Even the downtown business district of Batavia – seen in the photo at the top of this post – is quite picturesque and would serve quite well as the backdrop of of a photoshoot.

If you’re from the Batavia area and are looking for a photographer, contact me to book a shoot! I enjoy working in the area and would love to hear from you…
